The Sarah Penalver Gorsd doctoral grant offers a doctoral contract within the doctoral program in Oncology of Sorbonne University in collaboration with the SIRIC Curamus and the Institut du Cerveau (ICM), in order to support any innovative research project allowing to improve the prevention, the diagnosis, the prognosis, the treatment, the management and/or the personalized follow-up of patients with leptomeningeal cancer.

The objective of the doctoral program in Oncology, with the support of the University Institute of Oncology AP-HP. Sorbonne University (IUC), is to create a synergy between the actors of Sorbonne University involved in research, teaching and care of patients with cancer and to promote the emergence of a dedicated research community centered within the IUC.

Sorbonne University’s interdisciplinary doctoral programs aim to develop and support research areas that go beyond the disciplinary field of a single doctoral school. These programs contribute to the emergence of a community of young researchers trained at the frontiers of knowledge and disciplines. Doctoral students recruited into these programs are attached to and monitored by the doctoral school to which their thesis director is affiliated.

 

The selection process for candidates is threefold:
– Validation of a research project by a doctoral school of Sorbonne University then sending it before May 8, 2022 to

with the following e-mail title: Doctoral Program in Oncology, doctoral allocation SPG IUC AP-HP Sorbonne University
– Pre-selection of doctoral research projects by the program’s scientific committee. Pre-selected projects will be put online on May 23, 2022.
– Application of the students on the projects, attribution of the doctoral allowance on hearing of the candidates by a jury of experts with results on June 3, 2022

The care pathway of a child with a malignant disease involves the performance of numerous care procedures. These are not always understood or accepted by the child. The practice of pediatric oncology care therefore exposes professionals to the refusal of some children. These complex situations confront caregivers with ethical dilemmas: occasional or systematic refusal, refusal of a particular care or more globally of the treatment. A tension between respect for the rights of the child and medical ethics, between concern and the obligation to care.

In this context, a day on “The place of the child in his care” is organized:

 

Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Armand Trousseau Hospital site,
Sorel Amphitheater, Chigot Building,
Door 18: see attached program and plan.

This day will help clarify the issues, dilemmas and ethical tensions encountered daily in oncology. Putting these situations into words will help open up pragmatic avenues for responding to these difficult situations.

Registrations are to be made with the continuing education department via the Sharepoint platform. There are still places available!
