For several months now, the AP-HP Sorbonne University Cancer Institute has been involved in the “Comprehensive Cancer Centre” labeling process issued by the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI).
The OECI is a European organization that certifies centers of excellence in cancer.
This accreditation procedure examines the entire multidisciplinary approach of a center, integrating care, teaching and research. Only institutions with a significant number of medical and technical skills, including clinical and translational research, and a high level of quality of care are eligible for accreditation.
This distinction, obtained for a period of 5 years, would allow the development of new research projects and new interactions at the European level aimed at promoting therapeutic innovation for the benefit of cancer patients.
The final labelling process requires a few more months of exchange and interaction with the auditors to achieve this goal.
A virtual visit is scheduled for April 28 with the visiting experts of the OECI.
