All the hospitals in the AP-HP.Sorbonne University hospital group have been certified by the French National Authority for Health (HAS).

Implemented by the Haute Autorité de Santé every four years, the evaluation procedure for health care institutions aims to assess the quality and safety of care and all practices delivered by hospitals and clinics in France. It is carried out by expert visitors, health professionals mandated and trained by the Haute Autorité de Santé.

Nearly 340 assessments were carried out at the seven hospitals (Pitié-Salpêtrière, Saint-Antoine, Tenon, Rothschild, Trousseau, Charles-Foix and La Roche Guyon).

A number of strong points were cited at the end of the various visits, for all the hospitals, such as the involvement of patients and their families in their care, the promotion of good treatment, practices that guarantee patient dignity, and the consideration given to precariousness and living conditions.

The surveyors also praised initiatives to improve teamwork and quality of life at work, the participation and contribution of user representatives, and the development of city-hospital partnerships. They also cited the management of exceptional health situations, vital emergencies and team training as very positive points.

Suggestions for improvement included analyzing patient satisfaction and informing them of some of their rights.

Each visit by the Haute Autorité de Santé’s visiting experts took place over four or five days between May and November 2022. The majority of clinical and medico-technical departments in the seven hospitals were audited by the expert visitors during this procedure focused on professional practices.

The Saint-Antoine and Rothschild hospitals have been awarded the ” High Quality of Care ” label, the highest level of certification provided by the HAS. The Pitié-Salpêtrière, Tenon, Trousseau, Charles-Foix and La Roche Guyon hospitals have been certified ” quality of care confirmed “, with compliance rates of between 93% and 95%.
