Summary of the activity
The Clinical Investigation Centres (CIC) are clinical research infrastructures made available to investigators and researchers within hospitals to carry out clinical and health research projects. The CICs have staff and premises entirely dedicated to clinical research. These may be projects to better understand a disease. They may also be projects evaluating new treatments.

CIC PARIS EST
The Clinical Investigation Center (CIC) Paris-Est is a structure of the AP-HP and INSERM entirely dedicated to the design, realization, analysis and publication of clinical research in physiopathology and pharmacology. The CIC’s priority themes are in the fields of cardiology, endocrinology and metabolic diseases, in particular diabetes. But the CIC Paris Est can also participate in research in other fields, including pharmacology, in healthy volunteers (phase I) and patients (phase II and III). The CIC Paris Est hosts oncology pharmacology activities carried out by oncologists and hematologists at the University Hospital for the early development of new anticancer drugs within the framework of the Inca Early Phase Center (CLIP²) of the National Cancer Institute.

CIC Neurosciences
The CIC Neurosciences has dedicated premises and staff trained in clinical research for the study of neurological and psychiatric diseases in optimal conditions of quality, ethics and safety. He works closely with the doctors of the Nervous System Diseases Unit, the research teams of the Brain and Marrow Institute (ICM), and the drug industry for therapeutic trials. The studies carried out (about 80 studies each year, half of which are therapeutic trials) aim to gain a better understanding of the pathologies that affect the nervous system and to offer patients access to innovative therapies.

CIC Biotherapy
The CIC-BTi has a particular competence in the field of immunotherapy, especially in the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The CIC-BTi mainly carries out its trials in partnership with the CIC Paris-Est and CIC-Neuroscience, as well as with teams from the University Hospital Department “Inflammation-Immunopathology-Immunotherapy” (www.dhu-i2b.fr/) of which it is a part. It is accredited by the Federation of Clinical Immunology Society as a “FOCIS Center of excellence”.
